Nation likely to resist plant-based proteins
Vietnamese citizens have grown familiar with vegan and vegetarian food as the market sees a switch from animal to plant-based protein. Local meat producers believe that plant-based protein will not have a significant impact on the meat industry as consumers remain unconvinced on the nutrient content and taste of these alternatives, compared to animal meat products. A study conducted by the Office of International Affairs at the Lac Hong University found that highly educated consumers with good income adopt vegan diets as a therapeutic measure.
