Topaz makes into Asia’s Top 100 List
Long-running French fine dining restaurant Topaz has made it to Asia’s Top 100 list, coming in at number 90, marking the Cambodian establishment’s first entry and highlighting the country’s evolving hospitality sector. It is owned by Thalias Hospitality Company that also runs two local restaurants, Malis and Khema. Director of Operations, Lina Hak said that compared to cities like Singapore and Bangkok, Cambodia’s high-end restaurant scene is still evolving despite a truly thriving and diverse mid-level range dining scene. To make the list, restaurants are chosen by more than 300 industry leaders, referred to as “the academy.” They are food writers, critics, chefs, and restaurateurs from across the region. Cambodia’s strong economic performance over the last 20 years has considerably raised the standard of living for many Cambodians with more luxury restaurants, bars, and brands looking to capture the increased spending power.
