1,000 Lawson branches in 2023
Sumber Alfaria Trijaya, owner of Indonesia’s Alfamart convenience stores, aims to open 1,000 new Lawson stores this year. Drinks and prepared foods make up 60% – 70% of Lawson’s merchandise. The middle class is growing along with the busy lifestyles of Indonesians, and as a result, customers are already frequenting convenience stores like Lawson. In 2011, Mitsubishi Corp. that runs the chain in Japan, helped open the first Lawson store in Indonesia. Currently, Lawson operates 140 stores in Indonesia.
