Exhibition highlights from FHA-F&B 2024

USAPEEC with 10 of its members participated in FHA-Food & Beverage 2024, Asia’s largest international F&B trade show, held from April 23 to 26 at Singapore EXPO. Participating USAPEEC members this year were AJC, Mountaire Farms, Globex International, Pilgrim’s, Ayamo, Maple Leaf Farms, Agrisar, Nutriom, Intervision, and Lamex.

Visitors to the USAPEEC pavilion learned about the quality and applications of U.S. poultry and eggs through discussions, live cooking demonstrations, and sampling of delicious dishes. Dozens of fruitful business discussions were held between USAPEEC and interested parties from around the globe, with many business linkages forged.

Cambodia imposes stricter guidelines for meat importers

From April 12, 2024, only companies that meet the stringent requirements of the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) will be allowed to import frozen meat products. Companies that want to be officially recognized must apply to the GDCE for an official evaluation of their warehouses. Only 20 companies have qualified so far. These stricter guidelines aim to improve the quality of imported frozen meat products and prevent illegal imports, which negatively impact local livestock farmers because of their cheaper prices. For the same reasons, Cambodia had earlier in March implemented a ban on offal and frozen meat imports from March 12 - September 12, 2024.

Indonesia accredits 5 halal certifying bodies

This move provides exporters interested in the Indonesian market with a wider range of halal certification service providers before Indonesia's mandatory halal certification law for most food and beverage products takes effect on October 17, 2024. The five halal certifying bodies are The American Halal Foundation (AHF), Halal Transactions,
Inc. / Halal Transactions of Omaha (HTO), The Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA), Islamic Services of America (ISA), and The Islamic Society of the Washington Area (ISWA) Halal Certification Department. Singapore Food Agency (SFA) officials inspect Sri Lankan poultry slaughterhouses

Additionally, the delegation met with local government officials and producers to discuss existing export opportunities and enhance trade relations between the two nations.
