The ban, which is slated to be implemented from March 12 to September 12, 2024, is motivated by two reasons. First, to protect local livestock farmers against the competitive prices of imported meat. Second, to safeguard the health of consumers against the potential dangers of illegally imported meat. Chicken wings, thighs, livers and boneless meat are exempt from the ban.
