Thailand is set to begin exporting native Ayam Bangkok chickens to Indonesia as early as April, following an agreement on veterinary health certifications. The two countries have finalized a draft Veterinary Health Certificate (VHC), and Thailand is awaiting the official registration notice from Indonesia. The initial export target is 12,000 live chickens, valued at approximately USD 8.8 million annually. Indonesia is also interested in learning from Thailand’s expertise in establishing disease-free zones and animal breeding techniques, particularly regarding foot and mouth disease (FMD).
