Singapore has dropped the “30 by 30” food security target which aimed to produce 30% of Singapore’s total consumption of vegetables, eggs and seafood by 2030. Launched in 2019, only eggs were able to meet this target between 2021 and 2024, with local production of vegetables and seafood unable to reach even 10% of total consumption.

“30 by 30” has been replaced with a more encompassing policy, titled “Singapore Food Story 2.” The new proposal aims to achieve enough local production to supply 20% of Singapore’s total fiber intake and 30% of protein from any food source by 2035.

According to the Singapore Food Agency, local farms currently supply 8% of the population’s total fiber consumption and 26% of protein.
