The Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has confirmed U.S. commitment in complying with Indonesia’s mandatory halal certification rules.
“The Unites States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has expressed its commitment to complying with the mandatory halal regulations in Indonesia,” said BPJPH head Ahmad Haikal Hasan.
More U.S. based halal certifying bodies have been recognized by BPJPH, including the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA), American Halal Foundation (AHF), Islamic Services of America (ISA), Halal Transactions of Omaha (HTO), and the ISWA Halal Certification Department.
Hasan emphasized that these standards apply to all Indonesian imports, and not just imports from the U.S.
“Our principals are clear. Halal products must carry halal certificates and labels, while non-halal products must be clearly labeled as non-halal. In this way, consumers can make informed decisions, obtain proper information, and feel safe when purchasing products in the market,” he said.
